ADA compliance: 303.2 Vertical. Changes in level of ¼ inch (6.4 mm) high maximum shall be permitted to be vertical. 303.3 Beveled. Changes in level between ¼ inch (6.4 mm) high minimum and ½ inch (13 mm) high maximum shall be beveled with a slope not steeper than 1:2. ADA places a direct responsibility upon property owner.
1.OSHA does not regulate height differences in sidewalks and walkways 2.ADA guidelines state that the maximum height difference in egress is ¼”. A bevel with a slope length that is twice the height difference may be used if the height difference is between ¼” and ½”. 3.The vertical height difference in walking surfaces may also be regulated by state or local building codes.
